The Collaborative REAnalysis Technical Environment – Intercomparison Project (CREATE-IP) is a project designation in the Earth System Grid Federation (ESGF) that is a collection of data from selected major reanalysis efforts underway today. Each dataset is reformatted similarly to facilitate comparison with each other.
CREATE-IP was first viewed as a follow on effort to ana4MIPs, which supports the CMIP model intercomparison and validation exercise. The key differences are that CREATE-IP is designed to facilitate the study of the similarities and differences between reanalyses efforts by providing access to output variables at all available temporal resolutions (monthly, 6hr), as well as the innovations and observations. Access will be provided through multiple distribution, visualization, analytic, and knowledge based services.
The reanalysis data is generated by the various reanalysis centers:

The preparation of the data for publication in the CREATE-IP ESGF project is led by the Climate Data Services at the NASA Center for Climate Simulation with the cooperation of the reanalysis centers. Additional collaborations include
reanalyses.org and the
European Copernicus Climate Change project.
