The Collaborative REAnalysis Technical Environment – Intercomparison Project (CREATE-IP) is a collection of data from selected major atmospheric and oceanic reanalysis efforts underway today. Each dataset is reformatted to the CMIP standards to facilitate intercomparison.
CREATE-IP was first viewed as a follow-on effort to ana4MIPs, which supports the CMIP model intercomparison and validation exercise. Alternatively, CREATE-IP is designed to facilitate the study of the similarities and differences between reanalyses efforts by providing access to output variables at selected temporal resolutions (monthly, and for atmospheric variables - 6hr). Access is provided through multiple distribution, visualization, and analytic services.
Atmospheric Reanalyses included in CREATE:
NASA/GMAO – MERRA and MERRA2
ECMWF – ERA-Interim
NOAA/NCEP – CFSR
NOAA/ESRL – 20CRv2c
JMA – JRA25 and JRA55
Ocean Reanalyses of the state variables included in CREATE in both native and common 1x1 degree grid:
CFSR
CMCC/C-GLORSv5
GFDL/ECDAv31
GECCO2
GODAS
MRI
ORAP5
ORAS4
CLIVAR/GSOP (ensemble)
