The obs4MIPs project leads, in collaboration with the current CMIP panel, convened a meeting of experts in both climate modeling and satellite data from the US, Europe, Japan, and Australia for the purpose of planning the evolution of the obs4MIPs and its connection to the CMIP6 experiments. The meeting, held in April 2014 at NASA Headquarters in Washington DC, was structured to promote discussion between experts in model development and evaluation, and experts in satellite data products. The final report from that meeting is available through the link below:

The meeting was also summarized in a BAMS article:
Ferraro, R., D. Waliser, P. Gleckler, K. Taylor, and V. Eyring, 2015: Evolving Obs4MIPs to Support Phase 6 of the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project (CMIP6). Bull. Amer. Meteor. Soc. 96:8 ES131-ES133, http://dx.doi.org/10.1175/BAMS-D-14-00216.1
